AKANE SANDOVAL: The Big Cheese/Bun

Akane Sandoval came to the United States from Shiga, Japan in 1998 intent on learning how to make movies. She went to Moorpark College and studied film and radio production, but she switched majors when she goto into UC Santa Barbara and got her Bachelor’s Degree in Art Studio. She and Eric met just before Akane gradutated from UCSB in 2003, they were married six months after meeting. Originally, Akane’s painting style consisted of numerous paintings of beautiful women. But one day Akane did an elaborate sketch of bears in a totalitarian society ruled by fascist pig police. Eric said to her, “I think you’re onto something there.” Akane immediately went on a painting frenzy of the Bear Republic. Akane designed a complete line of t-shirts, unique teddy-bears, pocket bears, and tote-bags to brand the Bear Republic. Together, Akane and Eric came up with an idea for a show designed for the small screen… The Smallest screen. Bear Republic Network was born.
